I thought it was $5000... then I realized it was $5 million!
As a new dad, Satnam Singh is overjoyed to have won $5 million on LOTTO 6/49!
It’s the second $5 million win in Saskatchewan in less than a month! The last $5 million was won in Outlook in the September 6 LOTTO 6/49 draw.
The Saskatoon local said he was dropping his cousin off at the airport and waiting in his car when he remembered he had tickets to check.
“I scanned the ticket on the [Lotto Spot] app, and the amount came up,” he said. “I thought it was $5,000… then I realized it was $5 million!”
Singh asked his wife how many zeroes she could count but didn’t tell her he had won just yet.
“I went to the store to check it and everyone there said, ‘Congrats!’” he chuckled. “Then I went home and told my wife—she said it was amazing!”
Singh said he only started buying tickets recently, when his child was born.
“I never really bought tickets before—we just had a daughter, so I thought I’d start buying lottery tickets,” he laughed. “Now I can buy a home for us!”
The winner said he’s excited for what this means for his family and is thrilled to enjoy the winnings with them.
Singh purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket from Kahkewistahaw Gas & Convenience at 10-2150 Markham Ave. in Saskatoon. He won the Classic Jackpot by matching all six numbers selected in the September 27 draw: 1, 7, 15, 19, 36, and 40.
